Ever considered a career in the performing arts?Oakfields College
The Oakfields College Faculty of Dance and Musical Theatre can help you realise this dream.
After six successful years of providing tertiary education in the creative arts, Oakfields College has established a dance and musical theatre faculty; a faculty that is already able to boast some exceptional talent.
The team of lecturers in this faculty collectively have over fifty years of experience within the performing arts. These lecturers have trained and mentored a multitude of students who have forged highly successful and lucrative careers in the entertainment industry.
The course covers a multitude of disciplines including singing, dancing, acting, choreography and directing. It aims to cultivate a new generation of versatile professionals who not only demonstrate an academic understanding of the performing arts but who also display an exceptional level of cultivated talent, superior skills, immaculate work ethic and professionalism.
Students take part in full-scale productions throughout the year. This year students performed in three productions with the final production, ‘Heart and Music – A Musical Revue’ taking place on 1, 2 and 3 November at the UNISA Little Theatre. This will be a combined dance/musical production, featuring a vast genre of musical highlights throughout the ages.
Given all of the above, plus the support expressed by various directors, producers, choreographers and agents; it is certain that the Oakfields College Faculty of Dance and Musical Theatre will soon be the number one feeder system to the professional entertainment industry!
Due to the highly specialised nature of the course, student numbers are limited therefore acceptance into the programme is dependent on an audition/interview. The next set of auditions for the 2013 intake will be on 3 November.
