Joburg Promusica announces the September Mama Said Session with Streetqueen Ntsiki Mazwai; at the Basement Theatre on Sunday 30 September 2012. Dali wam’, Heritage Month is here and the Streetqueen celebrates isiko lethu with Music in the Air by dishing up a Sunday special with mo’ aatchar! South Africa’s premier Afropop artist and qualified heart throb Ntando is our bhuti for the occasion while much adored and cherished legend in her lifetime Letta Mbulu is our big sister. Yebo, culani nami when Sis’ Letta shares the ups and downs of her vast musical career of more than forty years with us. Ntando Umunt’ Unjani yena self? Well, come to mama and find out for yourself. You will leave the session amazed, inspired and motivated! The Mama Said Sessions are a mixed masala brewed by Ntsiki Mazwai; they provide a soulful, funky and safe environment where young artists can showcase their talent and leading artists share their knowledge. Another ingredient of the Streetqueen’s special brew is the open mic session where all can strut their stuff backed by the live house band while the DJ is on duty to liven things up. We are calling on fresh, home-grown talent, musicians, poets, writers, visual artists, film makers, dancers, actors, comedians and anyone who would like to be inspired on a Sunday afternoon by what Mama Said to join us … Mama Said has hosted the likes of Dorothy Masuka, Thandiswa Mazwai, Kabomo, Lilian Dube, Ringo Madlingozi, Nomsa Manaka, JahSeed, Sibongile Khumalo, Pops Mohammed and Wanda Baloyi in the previous editions.
