A MAZE. / Interact Festival - dates for 2013Goethe-Institut Subsahara-Africa09/12/2012 14:19:08 
The first step towards an annual platform for game designers, media artists, musicians and performers was taken at A MAZE. / Interact Festival 2012. The A MAZE. / Interact Festival 2012 of Johannesburg, presented in partnership with the Goethe-Institut in Johannesburg as part of the New Imaginaries series, closed on September 2 after a couple of amazing, entertaining and mind-boggling days. Over 2 500 people attended and 55 artists presented media and digital art, indie games, music and visuals from all over the world. In a mix of music, technology, and knowledge, the motto of the festival, “Human-Human-Machine interaction“, has been celebrated day and night through lectures, panels, workshops, indie games, interactive installations, street games, machinima screenings, film screenings, concerts and parties. After a 48-hour Game Jam at the University of the Witwatersrand and the opening at South Point’s The Grove, the festival brought media art based magic into spaces in Braamfontein; including the Alexander Theatre, the Wits Art Museum and the Green Building. The festival created an open and inspiring space for creativity and fun, networking and collaborations, exchange and knowledge. A MAZE. is looking forward to 2013 to present even more interactivity, transmediality, and playfulness! Bringing knowledge and joy from all over the world to Johannesburg and taking even more back to Berlin. The next A MAZE. / Interact Festival in Johannesburg is announced to take place from August 26 to 31 in 2013. Save the date!
