Desiré Davids takes Dance Forum residencyBehind the Scenes Communications08/10/2012 10:37:59 
Dance Forum is pleased to announce that the well-known choreographer and performer Desiré Davids will be taking up a residency at the Dance Space next week. This is the fifth and final residency in a series of Choreographers’ residency programmes hosted by Dance Forum, (the production company of Dance Umbrella) with funding received from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund. One of Dance Forum’s prime objectives is to nurture dance practitioners and the Residency Programme, which offers free space for a choreographer for a period of up to one month at the Dance Space, fulfils this objective. In the allotted time span the choreographers can create a work, plus teach a series of Master Classes and host a face to face discussion. Davids will work on her piece, Who is this?… Beneath my skin that was performed earlier this year at Dance Umbrella. This acclaimed work will be presented at the France/South Africa season, Danse l’Afrique Danse 2012. Davids’ residency follows the two successful residencies of Via Katlehong (which completes its residency this Friday 10 August) and Fana Tshabalala. She will present a master class at the Dance Space on 14 August from 10:00 to12:00. This is open to anyone to attend. Also on 14 August at 14:00 she will showcase the work and this will be followed by a face to face interview.
