BTE VO1SS will present its third Sunday Morning Concert for 2012 on 26 August at 11:00 in the Drama Theatre, SA State Theatre, Pretoria.

Over the past 50 years classical music has provided pop stars with best sellers or hits. Although the music might have been re-arranged or “adjusted”, the origin of these best sellers can be linked to classical music, for example, Elvis Presley’s It’s Now Or Never comes from the well-known O Sole Mio by Di Capua. All By Myself by Celine Dion, which was arranged by Eric Carmen, originates from Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no.2.

On Sunday 26 August BTE VO1SS artists will showcase some of these one-hit wonders or greatest hits that have provided much joy to patrons across the world. All artists of BTE VO1SS will perform, supported by the ten trainees and accompanied on piano by BTE VO1SS, Music Manager, Susan Steenkamp Swanepoel.

The ticket prices of R80 (general admission) and R60 (pensioners) are specifically kept at affordable level to encourage opera lovers to attend and to further audience development. Programmes are available at R5 per programme. There is safe and secure parking available at The South African State Theatre at R13 per vehicle with direct access into the auditorium. Tickets are available at the door only, no pre-bookings.

This is Sunday morning entertainment at its best and patrons can enjoy homemade cakes, coffee, tea and cold drinks before and after the hour-long concert.
