Two sensational new acts are joining the already exceptional line-up at the 2012 SA Tattoo at Montecasino from 7-9 September.

There is no sound quite like that of a Harley-Davidson, nor is there a musical instrument to rival the unique sound of bagpipes. Take these unique sounds, add a “Hogs” display bike riding team and a young kilt-wearing 8-piece band called Haggis & Bong on stage at Montecasino’s outdoor area and the result is two sensational new acts joining the line-up at the 2012 SA Tattoo.

In partnership with Jacaranda FM and M-Net, the SA Tattoo is proud to announce the Harley Owners Group (Hogs) Johannesburg Chapter together with the Harley-Davidson Johannesburg dealership have formed a display riding team comprising of average motorcycle riders that will showcase their skills at the SA Tattoo.  The Hogs promise lots of thrills and excitement at this year’s Tattoo.

The organisers of the SA Tattoo are pleased to welcome back Haggis & Bong, the popular young bagpipe-playing outfit that proudly returns to Montecasino to accompany the SA Highland Dancers for the second year in succession. Their unique "pipe driven" sound has transcended the boundaries of traditional music genres and earned them a growing fan base.

Founded in 2007, Haggis and Bong have established themselves as one of the most exciting new acts on the local music front. They have played at various shows and festivals such as OppiKoppi, Splashy Fen, Ramfest, Aardklop and Seasons Wither as well as at the SA Tattoo performing alongside top class local and international acts. The band has grown from a two-man experimental act to its current eight-piece musical force with two successful albums, Fire in the Bowl (2008) and Of Myth & Legend (2012).

From “Hogs” on their “Harleys” to the traditional 180-piece massed pipes and drums to the colourful contingent of Highland and Irish dancers accompanied by Haggis & Bong, the SA Tattoo is all about sound and movement. This year’s new and exciting line-up features the Talentholdet Gym Team from Denmark; brass bands from the SA Air Force and SA Military Health Service; the Anavarata Dance Institute’s traditional Indian dancers; the "Affies Choir" (Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool and Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool) as well as a demonstration of absolute military precision by the SA Army Pace-Stick team. The soloists for this year's finale are the highly talented singer and actress Siyasanga Papu and popular local recording artist, actor, television and movie star Vaughan Gardiner whose combined vocal prowess closes the 2012 event.

Now in its 4th consecutive year, and part of the “Bigger and Better” MTN FESTIVAL, the SA Tattoo has thrilled more than 70 000 people, selling out at every show since its launch in 2008.  It’s the hottest ticket in town so hurry and book now at Computicket service centres, visit www.computicket.com or call 0861 813 9000.

The bagpipes are calling and you don’t want miss the fanfare, the massed pipers and bands, dancers and other incredibly talented performers at this year’s SA Tattoo.
