Sibongile Khumalo in concert with KZNPOKZNPO - KZN Philharmonic Orchestra
Highly accomplished and versatile South African soprano Sibongile Khumalo to perform with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra at the University of KwaZulu-Natal at a free lunch hour concert on 8 August 2012. The concert will take place at the Jubilee Hall and will commence at 12pm.
This is a special Women’s Day concert with female soloists in celebration of Women’s month. Sibongile will perform Princess Magogo’s Haya Mntwan’ Omkhulu: “Uyephi Na?” and Roux’s Comin’ Home: “Evening Song”. Also featured in the concert are soloists from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Busisiwe Shazi (soprano) who will perform Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro: “Dove Sono”, Phindile Cele (soprano) will also perform Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte: “In uomini, in soldati”. Khumbuzile Dlamini (mezzo-soprano) will perform Verdi’s Macbeth: “Vieni t’ affretta”, Vuyisile Madlala (mezzo-soprano) will treat us to Bizet’s Carmen: Seguidille and also perform a duet with Nomalungelo Zubane (mezzo-soprano) titled Delibes Lakme: Flower duet.
The KZN Philharmonic is very excited about this collaboration with Sibongile Khumalo as audiences can enjoy her performing with the orchestra at no cost and she is a world class artist. The wonderful performance opportunity that is being given to the students of UKZN is also very important to the orchestra as nurturing the talent of the youth and also creating a love for classical music is one of the visions of the orchestra and it is always special to see those visions materialise.
