FTH:K are the recent winners of the Fleur du Cap Award for Innovation in Theatre. OfficeBLOCK is their look at life around the office water cooler, through a series of captivating vignettes that lift the lid on the tyranny of conformity and the culture of corporate greed.
OfficeBLOCK features seasoned FTH:K company members Marlon Snyders, Christopher Beukes and Sinethemba Mgebisa, with Asanda Rilityana, who received a Best Actress nomination for s Mhla Salamana (When our Eyes Met), at the Baxter’s Zabalaza Awards. She has just returned from performing in Belgium and at the National Arts Festival with Brett Bailey’s Third World Bunfight in Exhibit A.
The first version of the production has been reworked by the ensemble, under the direction of Batzofin, who also designed set and costume. Lighting design is by David Batzofin, with original direction by Rob Murray.
The company, whose signature style of non-verbal theatre encourages audiences to ‘Listen With Your Eyes’, works with both Deaf and hearing performers. FTH:K are the producers of shows such as Womb Tide, QUACK!, GUMBO, Pictures of You and Benchmarks (the latter two in association with a conspiracy of clowns).
The show runs until 21 July at 7pm at the Baxter Golden Arrow Studio, with a matinee on Saturday at 2pm.
