The “Christmas In July” celebration at Le Canard Restaurant in Sandton has confirmed an extra date for 26 July 2012.

Due to popular demand, the soiree and celebration now falls over two days, 25 and 26 July.

Guests and patrons who were unable to attend the “Christmas” soiree on Wednesday July 25 can now enjoy the merriment on the following day, Thursday July 26. Traditional Christmas fare and your favourite feel-good festive music star in this annual mid-year celebration at Le Canard.

It’s time to unpack your bright Father Christmas hats, silly reindeer suits, red nose apparel and granny’s sparkly tinsel.

This year Le Canard has partnered with a trio of South Africa’s most respected entertainers, singers Juanita Kruger and Timothy Moloi, and revered pianist David Cousins, to present two evenings of merriment and music in the middle of winter.

Juanita and Tim will perform a programme of your favourite Christmas tunes, including “We Need A Little Christmas”, “Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire” and “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town”. Traditional carols will, of course, be included, with a specially arranged medley of “Joy To The World” and “Silent Night”. An interactive and sing-a-long “Jingle Bells”, using cutlery and glasses, is sure to make merry.

The full progamme for both evenings will be announced at a later stage.

Tis the season to be jolly…

Traditional Christmas nosh is on the 4-course menu, including Seafood X-Cracker (pastry cracker filled with prawns and line-fish delights), spicy pumpkin soup with cranberry and pink ginger twists, and then roast turkey with chipolatas, pineapple and walnut stuffing. Perfect for a winter Christmas table!

Selected wine pairing for the evening is with the awarded estate, Mont Du Toit in Wellington. Stephan du Toit, winemaker and proprietor, together with brand ambassador Margot Middel, will present the “Christmas In July @ Le Canard” wine selection include the Blouvlei Sauvignon Blanc, Blouvlei Rose, Les Coteaux Merlot, and of course the multi-award winning and flagship Mont Du Toit blend.

The ticket price of R420 includes performances, full menu and wines with dinner.

There is a special guest appearance by Brian Heathfield as Father Christmas, or Katy Claus with Camera. As curator of the Christmas Tree he will be receiving gifts and toys from guests for delivery to CHOC, the Childhood Cancer Foundation. CHOC has been supported at every Le Canard “Christmas In July” event.

In keeping with the theme there will be a suggested dress code of festive Gold, Green and Red.

Tickets for this annual event are limited, so early booking is strongly advised. Unfortunately a third night cannot be added.

Notes on the performers:

Juanita Kruger’s acclaimed experience reads like the “who’s who” of popular music: solo performances, leads and starring roles in “Sound of Music”, “Tropical Rhythm”, “New York State of Mind”, “Broadway Babes”, ”Hair”, “Heaven Can’t Wait”, “Magic of Walt Disney”, “Crazy For You”, “West Side Story” ”The King and I” and “Queen – The Concert”. And that’s just on home soil. Her performances abroad have wowed audiences in New Orleans, Frankfurt and St. Petersburg too. Juanita and Timothy have performed together on numerous occasions.

Timothy Moloi never fails to woo audiences and critics alike with his smooth-as-velvet voice and masterful range. From humble Orlando, Soweto roots to graduate of Ohio University in America, Timothy has dazzled with orchestras across the country and abroad. As a published artist, Tim received two SAMA nominations for his album “Love That Music”. Career highlights include singing for President Nelson Mandela, Oprah and Dutch Royalty. His performance at the FIFA World Cup 2010 was seen by an estimated global audience of 500 million. His most recent accomplishment is serenading at the Team South Africa Olympic 2012 launch.

David Cousins, graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, and now producer, performer and composer for Thatch Music, delights with contemporary and classical interpretations. Many individual artists, television and radio accomplishments have the “Cousins” stamp of perfection. As well as accompanying Juanita and Tim, David will present solo medleys on piano at the Christmas In July event.
