The cream of South Africa's female performing talent completes a top line-up for the Women's Celebratory Concert at SAWAF on 4 August 2012. The Playhouse Company's highly anticipated 16th South African Women’s Arts Festival (SAWAF), runs at The Playhouse in Durban from Friday, 3 August until Sunday, 11 August 2012. Music fans are in for a treat with SAWAF's Women's Celebratory Concert. This festival highlight features South Africa's top female performers, headlined by Thandiswa Mazwai, the multi-award winning solo artist and lead vocalist and songwriter of Bongo Maffin. Minnie Dlamini and Alex Mthiyane MC the event, which will also feature the double platinum selling Afrosoul singer-songwriter and poet Zahara, the velvety vocals of Xolisa Dlamini, DJ Zinhle, arguably South Africa’s best female house DJ, and Durban’s Celeste Ntuli, South Africa’s funniest comedienne. Somizi Mhlongo directs the concert. This excellent event takes place on 4 August at 19h30 in the Playhouse Opera Theatre. "South Africa has a wealth of singing and performing talent and this line-up brings together the country's top female performers," says The Playhouse Company's Chief Executive and Artistic Director, Linda Bukhosini. "Each performer is a role model for South Africa's youth, known not just for their rich talent, but for their integrity. SAWAF, held during Women's Month every year, has a long history of supporting women's arts and creating valuable dialogue, whilst showcasing cutting edge productions.
