The Market Theatre Foundation, an internationally renowned premier arts institution, seeks highly motivated and dynamic individuals for the following posts: 1. Marketing Manager (Permanent) Requirements - Ability to manage staff as well as to develop strategies, systems and procedures - Proven competency in managing budgets - Ability to operate at a strategic level on marketing issues - 5 years’ experience in arts marketing is a plus - High level of discipline, punctuality and respect for deadlines - Good planning and report writing skills - Good PR/interpersonal skills Responsibilities - Develop, lead and review a strategic marketing and public relations plan in order to ensure continuing good communication between the Market Theatre Foundation and its various stakeholders - Take overall responsibility for the marketing of the Market Theatre Foundation’s various components consisting of the Theatre, the Market Laboratory and the Market Photo Workshop through electronic and printed media - Oversee overall marketing function including production, publicity, marketing and implementation of marketing infrastructure - Devise and implement a plan to increase advance sales of theatre productions and increase the database - Support the Chief Executive Officer in aligning strategic planning with development and fundraising strategies, co-ordination of fundraising efforts, relationship building, image-building, communications and marketing - In conjunction with the Fundraiser and the Heads of Departments, coordinate corporate marketing and public relations campaigns in order to enhance the brand and institutional visibility - Overall management of the staff of the unit including performance assessment and identification of staff development needs - Devise and monitor the implementation of a marketing and communication strategy in order to position the Market Theatre Foundation as a key player in arts and culture locally and internationally - Compile and monitor the utilization of the Marketing Unit’s operational budget and ensure that the resources are utilized economically, efficiently and effectively - Develop and maintain a high level of customer care and good quality service delivery - Plan and commission research programmes as required to inform strategic and programme planning in marketing, publicity and audience development - Develop and maintain strong relations with the media and assist in identifying positive media potential in order to maximise good media coverage for the Foundation and its three divisions - Take responsibility as the first point of contact for customer relations in the context of marketing queries - Undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the post. Technical Competencies - Advanced computer literacy and knowledge of complex software programmes relevant to the marketing field - Valid driver’s licence Qualifications, Experience and Salary - A degree or diploma in marketing or related field - Salary negotiable 2. Audience Development Officer (Permanent) Job Functions - Achieve sales targets of 10% (of all seats available for sale for a production over its season). - Develop, grow and maintain data base of clients and to disseminate information on productions to data base. - Draw up and maintain attendance and financial records for each production reflecting separately sold figures. - Ensure all clients pay a minimum of 3 days prior to performance. - Liaise with Box Office to ensure all tickets are properly booked, drawn and recorded. - Increase audience database ensure a core Audience of paying or social responsibility clients for every performance for all theatre in the Foundation. - Grow SRC database with different institutions maintain and grow a database for appropriate SRC patrons. Technical Competencies - Knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet and Email Qualifications, Experience and Salary - Qualifications: Sales Diploma - Relevant experience: At least two years Telesales or Audience Development - Annual Cost-to-Company: R 64,587K+ commission 3. Assistant Accountant (2 Year Contract) Job Functions - Processing transactions on Pastel Evolution: - Cashbook - Payroll - Debtors - Creditors - Fixed Assets - Rendering other administrative functions as may be required from time to time Technical Competencies - In depth knowledge of Pastel Evolution - Knowledge of Word and Excel Qualifications, Experience and Salary - Qualifications: B Com preferable - Relevant experience: At least two years Pastel Evolution - Annual Cost-to-Company: R180 000 4. Administrator (Permanent) Main Purpose is to assist with all the administrative functions for the Market Laboratory Job Functions - Assist to prepare weekly financial requisitions. - Compile weekly administrative reports. - To develop and maintain a filling system for all Lab’s administrative documents, including, requisitions, report. - Assist in tracking all spending patterns and control expenditure. - Liaise with Education Officer regarding their projects and develop overall reports of the programs. - Maintain asset register. - Assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets in conjunction with the Education Officer. - Compile weekly financial reports and special period reports. - Administer all bursaries and ensure that all learner information required is filed. - Ensure that the building is maintained properly at all times. - Monitor cleaners and their appearance and consult with Front of House. - Ensure that all events are adequately staffed including showcases, rentals and festivals. - Collect stake holder data. - Maintain all teacher contracts Technical Competencies - Computer literate (full Ms Office) Qualifications, Experience and Salary - Matric and/or Diploma in Public Relations - Relevant experience: minimum 1 year administration experience - Annual Cost-to-Company: R93 251 Closing date: 20 July 2012 Applications and CV’s to be sent to: Hlubi Mtimkulu, hlubim@markettheatre.co.za Candidates wishing to see the full job description can obtain this from the Market Theatre website www.markettheatre.co.za Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only.
