Dance for a Cure raises funds for cervical and oral cancer at the Lyric Theatre on August 17 during Women’s Month. Leading South African dancers and musicians will take part, among them dance companies KMAD, Moving Into Dance, Tribhangi Dance Theatre, Vuyani, Tap Talk Rhythm Company and individuals such as Yolandi Olckers, Kitty Phetla and Kelly Moby. Vocal artists Sibongile Mngoma, Fem Belling, Dominique Paccaut and UK talent Charlie Dee will also perform under the musical direction of Richard Cock. The performances promise to be dazzling. In Act 1, dancers of different genres interpret sections of Claude Bolling’s work, while Dance Meets Passion in Act 2 with live singers and musicians, directed by stellar choreographer Adele Blank. This culminates in a spectacular Grand Finale. Revelation – Dance for a Cure is a non-profit organisation that helps to supply a Nobel Prize-winning preventative vaccine to disadvantaged youngsters. Revelation - Dance for a Cure has hosted annual concerts at Gold Reef City Casino and other venues since 2008, raising R1.6 million for immunisation of 700 orphaned girls against these forms of cancer since then. Dance for a Cure takes place at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City Casino on 17 August at 19:30.
