Chalo Cinema celebrates 100 years of BollywoodGold Reef City
The curtain is set to open on Bollywood stage extravaganza Chalo Cinema 5 at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City Casino from 15 to 17 June.
The show is the latest instalment in the popular stage series Chalo Cinema, which celebrates the cinema of Bollywood through dance and drama.
The latest production arrives from the Playhouse in Durban just as Indian cinema prepares to celebrate 100 years of great entertainment. The show combines dance and drama with the highlights of a century of Indian film, presented in a whirl of colourful costumes and spectacular lighting.
Chalo Cinema 5 revolves around the life of a disheartened film director, who is at the crossroads of his life. Through his nostalgic journey of drama, dance and music, the show traces the most memorable highlights of Bollywood film over the past 100 years as the director rediscovers his joy in cinema.
The show is presented by Epic Entertainment, who presented earlier editions of the Chalo Cinema series. The Chalo Cinema 5 is a visual feast with an all-new cast, featuring the renowned Nateshwar Dance Company. A troupe of 25 dancers will be choreographed by leading Mumbai-based choreographer Shampa Sonthalia.
