Trio Fibonacci performs for JMSJMS - Johannesburg Musical Society07/25/2011 08:55:57
After the winter break, Trio Fibonacci will get the Johannesburg Musical Society's season going again in the Linder Auditorium on Saturday July 30 at 20:00. This superb Canadian ensemble is known for its remarkable ability to perform cutting-edge contemporary as well as classical masterpieces, all with equal conviction and brilliance. Each of the musicians is a virtuoso on their instruments. Violinist Julie-Anne Derome and cellist Gabriel Prynn are joined by pianist Wonny Song, one of Canada's brightest young soloists and an excellent chamber musician. Their programme includes trios by Joseph Haydn (the sparkling "Gypsy Rondo" Trio), Mozart (Trio in C, K 548) and Schubert's very beautiful 1st Piano Trio in B Flat. They will also be showcasing South African Michael Blake's "Carpet of Memory", a piece inspired by Paul Klee's Moroccan paintings. Tickets can be booked at Computicket, the box office opens for sales one hour before the start of the performance. (Please note: there is no credit card facility at the Linder box office!)
