Internationally renowned British violinist Daniel Rowland will perform at the forthcoming Nederburg concert on June 27 at 17h00.

Rowland's versatile career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra leader sees him perform across the globe. Together with pianist Luis Magalhães, Rowland will play romantic, virtuoso violin favourites, as well as a few lesser known works.

The recital forms part of the annual Nederburg Concert Series which continues to contribute to the Western Cape's cultural life with classical music recitals by world-class local and international musicians.

The monthly recitals take place in the Nederburg Manor House in Paarl and are followed by sumptuous suppers served with fine wines from the Nederburg Manor House range.

Next month's concert on July 25 features the London Song Circle, comprising Dutch mezzo-soprano Margriet van Reisen and South Africans musicians - soprano Erica Eloff and pianist Mark Nixon. They will be performing works by Henry Purcell, Robert Schumann, Sergei Rachmaninov and Benjamin Britten. The programme will also include the op 61 by Johannes Brahms, a selection of Mazurkas by Frederic Chopin and songs for Women's Voices by Roger Quilter.

Celebrated South Korean pianist Young-Choon Park will take to the Nederburg stage on August 29 with a programme of sonatas by Scarlatti, Schubert and Chopin. As a child prodigy, Park played Beethoven's First Piano Concerto with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra at the tender age of nine. She studied music at the Julliard School in New York for several years and since then has received critical acclaim for the sensitivity and refinement of her recital and concerto performances throughout the world.

The Cape Town-based Taffanel Trio, featuring flutist Marietjie Pauw, clarinetist Annamarie Bam and pianist Benjamin van Eeden appear at the September 19 concert. The programme will include Debussy, Dmitri Shostakovich and other composers.

The concert on October 31 sees Zanne Stapelberg, Minette du Toit-Pearce, Philipus Hugo, as well as Peter and Suzanne Martens perform in the Nederburg Wine Cellar in a Grand Finale concert that is guaranteed to end the classical concert series on a high note. The talented quintet share a vast repertoire and will draw mainly on their French and Spanish repertoire, including the Martens' fresh new arrangements of the "Seguidille" from Carmen and the "Flower duet" from Delibe's Lakmé. Guests will be treated to a sumptuous formal three course dinner in the cellar after the recital.

The final concert of the Series will break from tradition and take place on a Saturday afternoon - November 27 - in the form of a picnic concert featuring Niel Rademan and Anna Davel. Entitled Swing, Classic, Cabaret and all that Jazz, their collaboration will pay homage to all those musical styles and will contain something to please everyone.

Both Rademan and Davel have carved successful careers in the local music and entertainment industry. As the title of their concert suggests, there will be a vibrant mix of popular and classical favourites. The musicians promise a feast of music with virtuoso piano, violin and accordion playing. The duo will perform songs made famous by Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour, as well as traditional music from across the world.

All recitals, including the picnic concert, start promptly at 17h00. Tickets for the chamber music recitals are R150 per person and include a welcoming drink plus a delicious light supper served with fine Nederburg wines. Tickets for the Grand Finale Concert are R295 per person and include a three course formal dinner in the wine cellar. Tickets for the picnic concert are R80 each and children under 12 years will be admitted free of charge.
