The play, Fruit, written and directed by the aspiring Paul Noko, is based on a true story. It explores the fate of a young girl called Matlakala. Matlakala tells Lucy (her friend) how she burnt her brother and his friends to ashes. Of course everybody wanted to know what started the fire. The story is told through an ancient game called Mmskitla, acted by Koketso Mojela, the 2009 Naledi award winner for best supporting actress, who takes you through the hardships that Matlakala had undergone before she was taken in by a community leader, Gogo Khambule, who gave her hope. This one-woman play is set to tour Soweto in April 2010. This tour will be officially launched at the Market Theatre Laboratory on 27 March 2010 at 16:00.
