An opportunity to work with cutting-edge local and international artists on a production for Infecting The City: the Spier Public Arts Festival. Our New Collaborations project is a unique, exciting creative residency in which local and international artists from diverse backgrounds come together to make public performance works in response to the festival's theme. The theme for ITC 2010 is ‘Human Rite'. Seven artists - from Johannesburg, Grahamstown, Harare, Melbourne, London and Amsterdam - are currently participating in a 3-week course that investigates the social and historical dynamics of the inner city, as well as the meaning and function of ritual. They will return to Cape Town in mid-January to spend 4 weeks making two large-scale public performance works to be staged in the communal spaces of the city. The festival dates are Sat 13 February - Sat 20 February. At 18h00 on the evening of Tuesday 3 December we are going to host an ‘Expo', where these artists can meet Cape Town artists and creatives with whom they might like to work in realizing their productions. We would love you to set up a table at the Africa Centre in Long Street and to sell yourselves, your skills, your company or performers (not your souls) to these artists. If interested, please contact Felicia on 021 422 0468 or feliciapb@africacentre.net Artists on the residency include: Johannesburg performance artist: Anthea Moys Harare choreographer: Gilbert Douglas Australian site-specific and ritual theatre director: Margie Mackay Greece/UK site-specific performance director: Athina Valha Johannesburg performance artist: Lerato Shadi Master of South African physical theatre: Andrew Buckland New York/Amsterdam film and installation artist: Ibrahim Quraishi Artslink.co.za Account: Isla Haddow-Flood islahf@africacentre.net 0214 220 468 074 197 3429 Africa Centre www.infectingthecity.com Web site: http://www.infectingthecity.com
